I climbed out of the fog up Humbug's 1761 feet.

Humbug Mountain summit (finally)

The view south from Port Orford. Again. It's hard to resist that huge "OCEAN VIEW" lettering painted in the road. From here, Humbug beckoned.

These tell you more about the peak than your eyes. It's a great hike, but definitely for the 'doing it' not a great view.

These are interesting 'imposter' bees. They are flies, but they forage in flowers and have honey bee coloring.

Slightly different variety with perpendicular stripes behind the eyes.

I was checking out this interesting striped variety (above) and a honey bee chose the same herself, shoving the fly aside. They don't do this to other bees.

I was so taken by the wave above. It crashed quite different than the others had been. The moment the approaching set began to break, it merged with the previous receding set. I stood there in a daze. Did I catch it? Constructive interference concept of wave theory demonstrated itself and the big wave raced fast up the beach. It caught me, exacting a toll for this shot: wet pantlegs.
