Euchre Creek Bridge

This morning I had an idea to communicate the 'realness' of instant film.

1927 bridge over Euchre creek is a great subject, so I stayed for a while.

This shot was an accident.

I've photographed the bridge a number of times. Somehow shooting it with instant film changed my perspective about the capability of a film or camera type to evoke a feeling.

Hiked Humbug trail. Difficult lighting as usual. Tried some new techniques.

A little later, I tried a few fancy things on this image. I opened the RAW version. Adjusted levels, applied orange filter. Converted to lab color. Camera's JPG version, also opened, level-optimized and orange filter applied. Converted to lab color. Unsharp mask on lightness channel: 65%, R3, T2. This lightness channel applied over the RAW version. Convert back to RGB then to grayscale. Image resampled down. After the first reduction, (2848->2141 pixels high), Unsharp mask at 105%, R1, T0, then down to 683 pixels high in four steps. Whew. Worth it? Yeah.
