Let’s go back in time in a couple of ways. Last June when I got to Reno, I picked up a Kodak 110 camera at a Savers thrift store. I went outside and was surprised to find film in it. So I wound the film and snapped this:
The El Cortez hotel, downtown Reno:
I randomly met another photographer named Andrew who had booked a model to shoot that weekend. I shot without hope of getting anything.
I must’ve got pretty close for a lot of these shots. That would be my advice to anyone new to using a fixed-focus pocket 110: get close (. . but not too close)
Then came the Susanville Bluegrass festival. Here are some of the guys from the Windy Hill Bluegrass band.
For the Fourth, we loaded up in this rig and went to Lake Tahoe.
This is my friend Jay that plays mandolin. I’ve spent a number of 4th of July’s with he and his family at Tahoe. See the entry from last year. There are some photos fromthe 2011 entry as well.
Some time later we went out sailing at the Sparks Marina. Maybe August?
I found myself playing in that country band. This was up at Pioneer, CA the day after my first show back with them.
This was probably more interesting to me if it had turned out. The sippy cup was in the light.
So in the end, I got a camera with 15 remaining frames. The film was a mess, but it was fun to shoot, and no small miracle that the whole roll turned out something. The first 9 frames are from the early 1980’s showing two guys putting up a tent in a back yard. Nine shots; it must’ve been an event!
